Ah, the 90s. A time of neon windbreakers, boy bands, and cassette tapes. But perhaps most importantly for kids of the era it was a golden age for candy. The snacks from that decade weren't just sweet; they were an experience, bursting with quirky packaging, inventive flavors, and a sprinkle of chaos that only the 90s could provide.

Sadly, some of these treats have gone the way of VHS tapes, leaving only memories (and maybe a lingering sugar rush) in their wake. Lets take a stroll down memory lane and reminisce about some of the iconic 90s candies that are no longer on shelves.

1. Butterfinger BBs

Remember these bite-sized nuggets of Butterfinger goodness? Butterfinger BBs were like the cooler, portable sibling of the classic candy bar. They came in a resealable bag, which made them perfect for sharing or not. While Butterfingers are still around, the BBs disappeared in the mid-2000s, much to the disappointment of 90s kids everywhere.

2. Wonkas Oompas

Wonka was a 90s candy empire, and Oompas were its crown jewel. These chewy, fruit-flavored candies were a staple in every lunchbox. They had a distinct tanginess and a texture that stuck to your teeth just right. Sadly, they were discontinued, leaving us to wonder if they'll ever make a comeback.

3. Shark Bites Fruit Snacks

Okay, technically a fruit snack, but these were a 90s lunchbox icon. The blue shark flavor (the rarest one!) was a coveted prize in every pack. Though fruit snacks still exist, Shark Bites in their original form are long gone, leaving a Jaws-shaped hole in our hearts.

4. Squeeze Pops

Is there anything more 90s than candy in a tube? Squeeze Pops were pure, sticky fun in liquid form. Available in bold, neon colors, these tubes of syrupy sweetness were perfect for kids who didn't mind getting a little messy. Sadly, they've been retired, though many similar products have tried to replicate their glory.

5. Wonder Ball (Original Version)

What's in a Wonder Ball? It was the tagline of this magical candy experience. Inside a hollow chocolate ball, you'd find tiny candy surprises. The original version also included toys, but due to choking concerns, it was reformulated before eventually being discontinued altogether. It was the candy equivalent of opening a treasure chest.

Why We Loved These Candies

These snacks weren't just delicious; they were tied to the pop culture of the 90s. They showed up in our favorite TV shows, commercials, and movies. Whether it was at a birthday party, a school lunch, or a Saturday morning cartoon marathon, these candies were part of the experience.
